Hallway is a free DLC that was released in 2012, and many Dark Souls fans eagerly downloaded it. However, some players reported that their downloads would corrupt. If they re-downloaded it, the game would change in unsettling ways. The first thing many noticed was a faint dragon silhouette in the main menu, though some dismiss this as a myth or hallucination.

Upon reaching the main menu, there are four options: Solo, Co-op, Extras, and Exit. Strangely, selecting Co-op doesn’t work, Extras exits the game, and choosing Exit forces you into Solo mode, as if the game is toying with your expectations.

When you start the game, you’re met with a peculiar figure—a man with black hair, no eyes, and a black tie. This mysterious character offers you a choice: pay him $5, and he’ll say, “Enjoy the game.” Many players quickly discovered that their only actions in the DLC seemed to be paying the man or walking through endless hallways.

These hallways are adorned with posters of the game and its infamous bosses. After about five minutes of walking, the map resets, bringing you back to the start—right where the eyeless man is waiting. The cycle repeats a total of ten times. However, on the tenth reset, the screen flashes black and red, and the man returns—this time with glowing red eyes.

In a voice that chills you to the core, he says, “This is your reward.”

This is where things get truly bizarre. Some players claimed that after this moment, they began to see the man from the game in real life. He appeared in the periphery of their vision, lurking in shadowy corners of their homes. However, no one reported any harm from these encounters. Nevertheless, these strange events led to the Hallway DLC being blocked and removed from digital stores.

In 2014, the DLC made a quiet comeback. This time, players reported no strange occurrences—no dragon in the main menu, no man with red eyes, no cryptic dialogue. It seemed like a normal, if not unremarkable, addition to the game.

However, the mystery of the Hallway DLC lingers. Players continue to theorize why the Dark Souls developers created a DLC about a never-ending hallway, a strange man with no eyes, and the eerie sense that something is lurking just beyond the screen.
