Shadow Fredbear's Insanity

Shadow Fredbear’s Insanity is the first story that JosephTheSnail wrote in 2022, and is widely considered the forefather of the rest of the other stories by him that would come later on.

This story tells of a news article that seems to talk about a strange tape which was found by an urban explorer inside of a trash can in a abandoned building, the contents shown are absolutely horrible and the origins of the tape is believed to be created in hell.

The Story

This is an article about a man who searched an abandoned building and found a tape for some kind of show inside a trash can. The man wrote his story and asked us to share it. Here's what the story has to offer:

"I decided to bring the tape home and play it. I noticed a scribbled name at the beginning of the episode, but I quickly forgot about it. The tape showed a cartoon video of a house, where Prototype Fredbear started talking to Lolbit, asking her out. Shadow Fredbear approached them and asked to hang out. As usual, Prototype Fredbear refused and laughed at him. Angry, Shadow Fredbear stormed out of the room.

Lolbit told Prototype Fredbear that he had gone too far, especially since Shadow Fredbear was feeling depressed that day. She gently put her arm around him, suggesting that an apology might be in order. Worried that Prototype Fredbear might think she was drunk, she hesitated, but to her surprise, he agreed.

Meanwhile, Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit began searching for Shadow Fredbear. At the same time, Shadow Fredbear was plotting his revenge against the group for how they had treated him. He started contemplating his next move, feeling he had no choice but to kill all four of them.

Shadow Fredbear grabbed a large knife and prepared himself. His first targets were Bonnet and Springbonnie. They mocked him, thinking everything was fine, but Shadow Fredbear interrupted them, leading them into a trap. Both assumed he was joking, but when they followed him, Shadow Fredbear stabbed them both to death. Their once sweet corpses became zombified and unrecognizable. Shadow Fredbear sliced open their chests and consumed their organs.

He left a note on Springbonnie and tore out Bonnet’s eyelashes, throwing her ear—along with her bow—into a nearby pond.

When Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit arrived, Shadow Fredbear panicked and collapsed onto Bonnet’s body, getting covered in blood and leaving her corpse squashed. I began sweating in fear at the sight of the mutilated bodies, but I was determined to see the horrifying images through to the end.

Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit cried at the sight of their friends' fate. Prototype Fredbear picked up a note, which led them to an area where Shadow Lolbit and Shadow Funtime Foxy were nailed to trees.

It seemed completely out of character for Shadow Fredbear to kill his girlfriends like that. The tape must have been made by some lunatic playing a sick joke.

Suddenly, Shadow Fredbear emerged from the shadows with a knife. In a fit of insanity, he ran toward Prototype Fredbear, stabbing him to death. Lolbit panicked and tried to intervene, but she was stabbed to death as well. All six—Prototype Fredbear, Lolbit, Bonnet, Springbonnie, Shadow Lolbit, and Shadow Funtime Foxy—fell victim to Shadow Fredbear’s wrath.

What was never understood, however, was why Shadow Fredbear killed his girlfriends, as they had never wronged him.

Overcome with guilt, Shadow Fredbear realized the horror of his actions and sank into an even deeper depression. He fled the scene, sobbing uncontrollably. Shadow Fredbear retreated to a dark room, refusing to sleep, staring out the window with a miserable and paranoid expression. Terrifying flashbacks of Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit’s mutilated corpses haunted him. The bodies appeared more rotten than when he had killed them, perhaps eaten by some unknown animal.

Prototype Fredbear’s corpse was ghostly pale, lying in a pool of blood. His jaw had been torn out, and one of his teeth lay on the ground. His eyes were bloodshot, and his hat was stained with blood.

Lolbit’s body looked even worse, covered in deep scratches, with most of her limbs torn apart. She too lay in a puddle of blood.

Shadow Fredbear, filled with remorse, grabbed a knife and began cutting his arm. He cried over what he had done to his friends and girlfriends. With his blood, he wrote a note of apology and farewell. He found a noose, climbed onto a chair, sighed, kicked the chair out from under him, and hanged himself, joining his dead friends.

When the tape ended, I realized I had watched a cursed tape and passed out. When I awoke, the doors to my house were unlocked, possibly by the demonic shadow bear from the tape. I immediately called the police and hid in my house, terrified. Fortunately, when the police arrived, everything was resolved."

Follow-up and Analysis

At the end of the tape, there was a split-second frame of Shadow Fredbear—it might have been a flash.

Shadow Fredbear was standing in a pitch-black room, his sharp teeth bared and red pupils glowing. Blood dripped down his face. His skin was gray, and his clothes had a pale, whitish tint, as if he were possessed—perhaps by the devil. Here’s what happened next to Shadow Fredbear. Remember when he walked away? He hadn’t originally planned to kill them; maybe someone pretended to be him. Here’s my theory:

The video started the same way, with Shadow Fredbear having a bad day. He tried talking to Prototype Fredbear and the others, but they told him to leave. Shadow Fredbear began crying and walked away. The next day, he had calmed down and decided to avoid talking to them, assuming they’d just be rude again. After he left, Lolbit and Prototype Fredbear began discussing Shadow Fredbear’s depression.

Meanwhile, Shadow Afton—a corrupted, shadowy version of Springbonnie—silently broke into the diner, making sure he wasn’t noticed. This marked the beginning of the tragedy. Shadow Afton overheard them as they walked away to look for Shadow Fredbear, assuming he was in a rarely used room. Shadow Afton then hid in the basement, shapeshifting into Shadow Fredbear. He found a knife conveniently lying nearby, hid it, and left the basement.

Shadow Afton, now posing as Shadow Fredbear, changed his name and used a voice changer. He approached Springbonnie and Bonnet, believing they were the most gullible.

He convinced them to follow him outside, away from everyone else, to a secluded spot. There, Shadow Fredbear stabbed them both to death. While walking away, he found Shadow Lolbit and Shadow Funtime Foxy. He came across a nail gun near the pond by Bonnet’s body and, using a hammer, brutally nailed Shadow Lolbit and Shadow Funtime Foxy to nearby trees.

He then attempted to hide Springbonnie and Bonnet’s bodies by tearing them apart. He ripped off Bonnet’s ear and tossed it into the pond. He tore out Springbonnie’s organs and left a note on the body, setting the stage for the deaths of Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit.

Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit eventually stumbled upon the bodies, and Shadow Fredbear quickly fled the scene.

They began crying over the loss of their friends, and Prototype Fredbear noticed the note. It led them to the spot where Shadow Lolbit and Shadow Funtime Foxy had been nailed to the trees. Horrified by what they saw, they stood in shock.

Meanwhile, Shadow Fredbear cleaned his bloody knife and approached Prototype Fredbear and Lolbit. Lolbit, thinking he was alive and innocent, hugged him. Shadow Fredbear hugged her back, then slowly pulled out the knife and stabbed her to death. Prototype Fredbear froze in terror, unsure of what to do, and was also stabbed to death.

Shadow Fredbear, trying to hide their bodies, tore them apart. He ripped off Prototype Fredbear’s jaw, causing a pool of blood to form. He scratched and mutilated Lolbit’s body in a grotesque and violent manner. Then, while fleeing the scene, he tripped over Bonnet’s corpse, making a lot of noise before continuing to run.

Shadow Fredbear, now fully overtaken by insanity, began laughing maniacally as blood poured from his eyes, revealing his true demonic form.

After Shadow Afton escaped, he reverted back to his original form. Shadow Fredbear returned and began walking around the premises, horrified by the fate of Springbonnie and Bonnet.

He fell to his knees, crying, until he saw a note on the ground. It led to a trail of blood that ended at Prototype Fredbear’s corpse, with Lolbit’s body lying next to him. He screamed in terror. Then, when he looked at the trees, he saw Shadow Funtime Foxy and Shadow Lolbit nailed to them. Overcome with fear, Shadow Fredbear fled and hid inside the diner.

In a desperate attempt to end his guilt and pain, Shadow Fredbear tried to harm himself—stabbing his arm, shooting himself in the head, and making other self-destructive attempts. But as he looked out the window, he saw a squad of police officers approaching.

Realizing he had no way out, Shadow Fredbear knew the only thing he could do was end it all and join his friends in death. He grabbed a noose, and in one final act of despair, took his own life.

The tape is titled "Shadow Fredbear's Insanity" and was reportedly created by an art thief, but there’s a possibility that this tape was made in hell itself.
