Several days ago, I was surfing the internet, very bored and with nothing better to do, just looking for funny images, videos, etc...
Later that day, it occurred to me to visit an old Adventure Time forum, as they used to post quite interesting topics about the show, once, I came across one that talked about a supposed movie, but I think it was fake.
After several hours looking for something interesting, without much success, I came across a title that caught my attention, which said:
Do you think you know all the characters in Adventure Time?
Sure, the title was in English, as was the whole forum, but I took the liberty of translating it and it went something like this:
Hello, my name is Miles Hoffman and believe it or not, I was part of the team responsible for the creation of Adventure Time, I was one of the creative directors.
Have you never heard of me?
I'm not surprised, especially after what happened that day...
Pendleton asked us all never to talk about this, but the truth can't be hidden much longer (Pen, if you're reading this, I'm sorry, but people will have to find out someday).
On a day like any other, I found myself in the meeting room with Pendleton Ward, Natasha Allergi, Adam Muto, Andy Ristano, Rebecca Sugar (this happened a few days before his retirement)...
Anyway, there was almost the entire Adventure Time Staff, doing what we normally did in every meeting.
All of a sudden, our partner came in and at that time my best friend, Carl Michaels, he was one of the editors of episodes.
He sat down and looked quite serious, we all looked at him worriedly and Andy asked:
- - Are you okay Carl?
Carl only replied:
- -Pen... I know I always ask you and they always take it as a joke, but...
Pendleton asked him what was on offer, while we all looked at Carl, waiting to hear what he had to say.
- - Could you put one of my characters on the show?
We all laughed, we thought it was another one of his "jokes", since he always requested this with drawings of monsters that he made in his spare time on his little laptop, which could not be part of Adventure Time because they had quite strange or scary appearances.
Pendleton replied:
- - Look Carl, your drawings are very good, I love them, but understand, your monsters could be very disturbing for most viewers, especially the younger ones, I'm sorry, but no.
Carl told him that that one was different from all the others, that it was decent enough to be placed in an episode.
Pendleton thought about it a lot, he still didn't seem convinced, but we were all trying to convince him to give Carl a chance, which turned out and he said:
- - Okay, but promise me it won't be a horrible monster like the ones you make, please.
Carl got very excited and before leaving he asked Pen:
- - Hey, would you allow me to do an episode on computer? I mean, it wouldn't be an official one, it would just be to show you what the character's role could be in the show.
Pendleton thought about it for a bit, but in the end he accepted, as he found it interesting to see what Carl's idea was and see what could be done with it, in addition, he told him that if he liked it, he would make his character a recurring character in the series and his episode would be official.
Several weeks later (Rebecca had already retired), Carl came back with a USB drive, handed it to Pen, and we soon put it on the computer.
It contained a video of approximately 10 minutes and 50 seconds (the standard length of a normal chapter) and the image of his character (which I kept in a backup).
NOTE: The guy put the image of the character, I saved it to place it here and I don't know why, but when I see it I get chills, especially because of that long neck.

The character "Agarok"
Pendleton very seriously said to Carl:
- - Carl, you promised, nothing like this... This is...
I interrupted him by saying:
- - Come on Pen, it's not THAT gloomy, besides, we've put much worse things in the show and even The Lich looks worse than the...
Pendleton replied by saying:
- -Ok... You're right... And his name? You didn't put it on, Carl.
Carl told him it was a surprise and then thanked me quietly.
Without further delay, we called everyone to see what Carl had in store for us...
The animation and drawings were identical to the show, even the voices were very similar (they were from a voice reader), I'll never know how he managed to do all that... I guess I've been studying how we do the program for a while.
It began in the Candy Kingdom, with Finn, Jake and Princess Bubblegum drinking tea in the back garden of the castle, Jake devouring some cupcakes that were on the table (as is his custom).
Finn, after taking a small sip of his tea, asked Princess Bubblegum why she looked so worried, she said:
- - Oh, it's nothing, Finn, it's just that a lot of Citizen Candy has disappeared lately and I'm starting to worry...
Finn looked at her sadly, for he didn't like to see her that way.
Jake, with his mouth full of cupcakes, said to the princess:
- - Don't worry princess, we'll find the Sweet People and kick the ass of the guy who kidnapped them.
Princess Bubblegum thanked him, but then commented:
- - But it's not just the Sweet People, I've received holo-messages from the other princesses, telling me that the citizens of their kingdoms are also disappearing without a trace... Even the Ice King came to ask me about his penguins.
Finn said excitedly:
- - Mmmm, looks like this is a mystery for the super detective duo Finn and Jake!
He raised his arms and shouted, WOOOHOOO!
Princess Bubblegum laughed and immediately after this, Peppermint arrived to inform her that a certain "Agarok" was asking to see her and was waiting outside the castle.
The scene changed when Finn, Jake, and the princess went out to the entrance of the castle to see Agarok...
They saw him standing there, he was exactly like Carl's drawing, with that long neck, that red cloak that covered him, those big eyes with their little light blue pupils and that blank stare.
I was in the middle of two very strange and misshapen looking creatures.
Agarok greeted the princess and she politely returned the greeting, while Finn and Jake looked at him suspiciously, Agarok said to the princess:
- - I learned about the sad and worrisome situation that the land of OOO is experiencing... Many inhabitants are disappearing without a trace and I...
Princess Bubblegum interrupted him suddenly and suspiciously:
- "And how do you know that, sir?"
To which Agarok replied:
- - The news flies, princess... Does that matter? No, what matters is that I have the solution to this problem. I went in person to each kingdom, summoning each ruler of the kingdom, to talk, along with you, about how I will help them.
The princess asked him if they would all go, he said that the Flame King did not want to, but that his daughter, Flame Princess, would attend instead.
Finn smiled upon hearing this and Agarok asked them to get into his vehicle where he would take them to the meeting point in "Mount Twilight".
The four of them climbed into some sort of old-fashioned model car, while one of the creatures got behind the wheel.
The scene changed, you could see how they arrived at Mount Twilight, which was an area with many mountains that ended in a peak and from afar you could see a kind of very large and old building, all covered by a twilight landscape.
Agarok commented to the three of them:
- - We're almost there, do you see that big building? That's my sweet home and base of operations.
The scene changes to the entrance of the building, while several creatures similar to the previous ones guard the place.
Almost all the princesses were there, Marceline in a black dress (similar to the one she wore in the episode "Footman"), Rainbow, the Ice King and even the two Sour Lemons.
Agarok told everyone:
- -Very well! We're all here now, please join me.
They all entered the building and as they walked through the dimly lit hallways of the building, they saw many of these terrifying-looking creatures:
Their mouths were wide open and they no longer had a lower jaw, instead they had a kind of metal jaw with nails that simulated sharp teeth.
The eyes, which were white throughout, were almost popping out of their sockets, but they weren't hanging, had no visible nose, and had many scars all over their bodies.
In addition, in their right hand, instead of four fingers (like any other character) they had three claws of very rusty metal, others no longer had an arm, instead, they had a kind of giant axe attached.
As for clothes, they were only wearing very dirty and battered trousers.
They couldn't speak, they only emitted some very sinister grunts, but the most disconcerting thing was the great similarity they had with humans...
NOTE: Unfortunately I didn't find a picture of those things, sorry.
Marceline asked Agarok:
- - What is this place? And what are those things?
Agarok is answered:
- - As I said Marceline, this is my small and modest home, and they are "The Helpers" and assist me in everything I need.
Everyone looked at Agarok suspiciously, as if something wasn't right in that place.
The scene changed to a huge two-story square room with a balcony surrounding the entire perimeter, Agarok asked them to wait there, as he had to check a few things before starting the meeting.
Finn and Jake (as always) decided to go explore the place, Princess Bubblegum asked them to wait there, but they ignored it.
The place didn't have much light, it looked very battered and old, it had many broken windows and many doors, some made of rusty metal and others of old wood, most of them closed and those that were open did not contain anything interesting.
After a while of walking, Finn and Jake saw a wooden door with a semi-transparent window ajar which, without a second thought, they entered.
It opened onto some sort of office, and Finn remarked to Jake:
- -Wow... This must be Agarok's office...
Jake just smells:
- -Yes... It needs to be reviewed.
Finn refused, because according to the serious break-in, Jake told him:
- - It's okay man, then we left everything as it was...
The two of them began to investigate the place: There was a portrait on the wall with a person, a very old wooden desk, a dusty rug, statuettes...
Nothing interesting or out of the ordinary...
Until suddenly, Jake, with a very serious tone of voice told Finn to go to where he was, Finn approached a place where there were many archivists, Jake asked him:
- Hey, doesn't this sound a bit familiar?
Finn was very frightened when he saw inside a folder, the photo of a human but it had one stapled to the back with a creature similar to the ones they had seen before...
The human photo read: "Before the transformation"
The monster photo read, "After the transformation."
In addition, attached to the two photos, came a document, Finn read it and said:
- "Sam Gordon, sujeto num. 876:
- Finally he woke up, quite stressed of course, the transformation process was very difficult for him, since the procedure of amputation of his legs to be changed for metal prostheses and the amputation of his fingers to be replaced by something much more efficient, was very painful, but in the end, it turned out to be a success, Now it obeys perfectly. Sam Gordon suffered many inconveniences in the middle of the process..."
Finn stopped reading, couldn't continue... (I would have stopped there, too.)
Jake found even more folders with the same contents: Two photos and a document that described in detail a supposedly painful and cruel "transformation," each one worse than the last...
At that moment, I turned my head to look at my companions and noticed the look on their faces of horror and even disgust...
The scariest part... It was a page from a kind of diary that they found in a drawer of Agarok's desk that Finn read and said:
- "At last, General Philips and the President himself have given me permission to test the bombs I designed, I will finally be able to change planet Earth forever and create the new world. Civilians don't have to know they're going to die, just as Philips and the president don't have to know that bombs are designed to destroy all life on the planet, including them.
- I'm already in my bunker, specially designed against my bombs, with all the resources I need to survive.
- The "Helpers," as I chose to call them, are also here, ready to take to the streets as soon as the bombs do their job, to eliminate the last ones left alive.
- Without further mishaps, let the Huntress Cloud Project begin!"
In the same drawer, they found another page from Agarok's diary that Jake read:
- "I can't believe it, the old man and the little girl are still alive after those mutants almost wiped them out...
- Very convenient for me.
- I must figure out how to repel those freezing powers and as soon as I discover it, I will send my Helpers to eliminate the old man, not the girl, I want her to be brought to me alive, as she gives off a very impressive dark energy.
- I'd like to try one or two experiments on the girl and the crown."
They found in a different drawer another page that read:
- "I'm starting to feel really bad, weak, tired... I feel like I won't live anymore...
- No way... I will have to undergo the process of transformation... It's the only way to live forever...
- I must figure out how to do it without losing my personality and intelligence... As soon as I find out, one of the Assistants will assist me with it..."
Finally, they found a very recent one, it seemed to be only a few weeks old:
- "These new species, a product of radiation, are starting to cause me a lot of problems, especially that dirty kid and his ridiculous dog. My Helpers will not be able to overcome your abilities and those of your friends, my dream of the perfect world begins to fade...
- I won't allow it, I'll start by kidnapping all the inhabitants of OOO, I'll send the Helpers to take care of it, discreetly and I'll have to cover my tracks, of course.
- I must admit that I am anxious, I never tried to transform people with lumps, candy people, fire people or even animals...
- Yes, it will be interesting... The Huntress Cloud Project is not over, not yet."
Finn told Jake that they should return to the great hall to warn everyone about Agarok's true intentions.
The scene shifted to the great hall, but they saw that all their friends were not only surrounded by an infinite horde of Helpers, but also surrounded by all sorts of monstrous hybrids:
Half-human, half-penguin creatures, beings similar to the Sweet Zombies but with human features, extremely thin people on fire and all kinds of unimaginable mutants...
They went to the little circle where they all were, evading all those horrible creatures.
At that moment they heard a laugh, it was Agarok who was on the balcony of the second floor, he said to them mockingly:
- - You have all fallen into my trap, like little flies in a spider's web...
Finn asked:
- Why have you done all those horrible things?
Agarok contended with her:
- Too bad for them, but necessary, you useless creatures, you just invade the space I need to create the perfect new world...
Princess Bubblegum asked him furiously:
- Is that your idea of the perfect world?! A world full of horrible mutants?!
Agarok le I state coldly:
- -Come on! And what are you?! They are a product of the bombs I threw 996 years ago!
- You were to die, not evolve...
Finn warned him:
- - We'll stop you, lunatic...
Agarok laughed and said to Finn:
- - Well, too late... My work begins again! The Huntress Cloud Project is starting over! My dream starts again!
KILL THEM MY HELPERS!! KILL THEM ALL!!
They were too many abominable beings, but everyone, even the princesses, helped with their skills and powers to defeat those creatures.
Finn, with Jake's help, climbed up to the balcony, only to find that Agarok was gone...
The scene changed when everyone, after defeating those monsters, left the building and left Twilight Mount and went on their way to the Candy Realm, feeling that it wasn't over yet.
The scene changed to the Candy Kingdom again, Princess Bubblegum said to everyone:
- - Don't worry, I will try to reverse the transformation that the unfortunates who fell into Agarok's clutches have been subjected to, as for him... He will pay for what he has done.
Everyone returned to their homes, the scene changed back to Mount Twilight, entering the building and focusing on Agarok who was behind his desk, while saying in a menacing way:
- - Maybe they escaped this time... But they won't be able to avoid their fate forever...
The Hunting Cloud Project... STILL STANDS!!
He said it while smiling, looking macabre at the camera and his neck stretching even more than usual...
That was the end of the episode.
Carl stood in front of the room and asked us all:
- - Did you like it?
Pendleton only said to him:
- -Carl... Get out of here, you're fired.
Carl, nervous and stuttering, said to Pen:
- - P-p-p-but and-I-stiff-f-for-hardened... T-t-tu can't...
Pendleton yelled angrily at him to get out...
Carl left very sad and crying.
We all, in spite of what he had done, felt very bad for him
Two days after that, we were all in the meeting room planning a new episode, when suddenly Tom Kenny came in very quickly, we all asked him what was wrong, he turned on the TV and changed the channel to the news.
They were showing a report of a suicide... Do you have any idea who he was? That's right, 26-year-old Carl Michaels had hung himself in his home the day Pendleton fired him, he was found yesterday.
We all fell silent and some broke down in tears, even after what he had done, many of us still wanted to...
Pen, after a few minutes, said:
- - I don't want ANYONE to talk about this and I want Carl's USB to be destroyed...
- If it even crosses anyone's mind to disobey... You can say goodbye, is that clear?
We all fell silent...
Three days later, out of guilt, I decided to post this story on a different forum.
Eventually, Pendleton discovered me and fired me, and deleted all data related to me, as if I had never been part of the team, and of course, asked the forum owners to remove the issue.
Dude, I ask you to please copy this and spread it all over the internet, because this won't be here forever, thank you.
NOTE: This is the end of Miles Hoffman's theme.
The song impacted me a lot and I felt very bad for poor Carl, so I decided to copy and save that text and then paste it here, so that people would know his story.
It should be mentioned, that the forum had removed that topic within a few days after I discovered it, I guess Pendleton Ward discovered it as well.
But, there is something that continues to intrigue me about Agarok and that, to this day, still terrifies me...
How curious that his neck conceals so well how Carl Michaels died, that neck so stretched... ¿right?
